“มาซารุ” และ “ยูกิโกะ” คู่แต่งงานที่ใช้ชีวิตร่วมกันมากว่า 44 ปี พวกเขามีลูกด้วยกัน 3 คน แต่ว่าแต่ละคนก็โตจนแยกย้ายกันไปหมดแล้วทั้งคู่จึงได้ใช้ชีวิตในวัยเกษียณอย่างสงบด้วยกันกับ “จิบิ” เจ้าแมวดำของบ้าน มาซารุเป็นคนนิ่งเงียบที่ไม่ค่อยแสดงความรู้สึกจนเกือบจะเรียกได้ว่าเย็นชาส่วนยูกิโกะก็แสนอึดอัดใจกับท่าทีของเขาจนมีเพียงเจ้าแมวดำจิบิเป็นที่พึ่งเท่านั้นกระทั่งวันหนึ่ง ยูกิโกะก็ได้บอกกับลูกสาวของเธอว่าตนต้องการจะหย่ากับมาซารุ และตอนนั้นเองเจ้าจิบิก็เกิดมาหายตัวไป!!!
