เล่าเรื่องราวความวายป่วงของ ซู บัตตันส์ (แอลลิสัน แจนนีย์) แม่บ้านชีวิตสุดแสนน่าเบื่อแต่วันหนึ่งเธอต้องพบกับเรื่องราวที่ไม่คาดฝัน เมื่อซูพบกว่า คาร์ล (แมทธิว โมดีน) สามีของเธอได้หายตัวไปอย่างปริศนาเมื่อความหลัวหาย ความควายก็เข้ามาแทรก เพราะทันทีที่   แนนซี่ (มิลา คูนิส) นักข่าวน้องสาวต่างแม่ของเธอออกข่าวในช่องของตัวเองก็ทำให้ซูกลายเป็นที่สนใจของผู้คนในยูบา เคาน์ตี้ และเปลี่ยนให้เธอเป็นคนดังเพียงข้ามคืน แต่ความวุ่นวายยังไม่หมดเพียงเท่านี้เพราะทันทีที่ข่าวออกไป มินา (อควาฟินา) ลูกสาวแก๊งมาเฟียพร้อมพวกก็กลายเป็นผู้ต้องสงสัยคนสำคัญ ท่ามกลางความโกลาหลและคนเพี้ยน ซูจะทำอย่างไร ในเมื่อหลัวก็หาย ชื่อเสียงก็ต้องรักษา ปฏิบัติการจับโป๊ะตัวแม่จึงเริ่มต้นขึ้น!!!
